What’s N.E.X.T?
Brunner has long been dedicated to helping our clients push the boundaries of the latest technology innovations for communications purposes. We also strive to create a culture where employees are free and empowered to explore the possibilities. Part technology lab, part incubator, part idea generation…N.E.X.T. helps us fulfill both of these missions. Of course as many of you are aware, in our industry, finding the time for innovation when everything is evolving so quickly is tough to do. That’s why we’ve worked hard to formalize our approach — we feel that strongly about it.
Who are the participants of our NEXT initiative?
First and foremost it’s our employees. Anyone who has the passion and drive for forward thinking technologies. NEXT provides an outlet for innovative thinking.
Solution providers who are interested in tapping into a leading, creatively driven, digitally savvy organization like Brunner for real ideas, and tangible real world client opportunities. We want to be an “open” partner who will work to explore virtually any possibility.
Any of our clients who want to tap into the bleeding edge can become beta testers for next generation technologies.
And finally, of course we want to be as transparent as possible. We’ll talk about what we’re working on, comment on what others are working on, and we’d love your comments as well.

Where do breakthrough ideas come from? My experience has been that the most innovative ideas result from the collaboration of diverse thinkers with equally diverse backgrounds–people who might not ordinarily be paired to take on a challenge. So, while we are exploring the next application for new (or existing) technologies, we need to tap into the thinking of not only those who are intimate with the bleeding edge of technology, but also those who are on the bleeding edge of business, marketing and creative thinking. At this intersection of unique minds and experience, we can collectively explore the possibilities that few, if any, of us might explore on our own. We encourage everyone to participate freely and to be prolific with ideas–from the logical to the ridiculous. While not always practical, often the most outlandish, unrealistic ideas spawn different paths of thinking that lead to new-to-the-world ideas and applications. For those who have not read it, one of my favorite books on the subject of innovation is an oldie but goodie: “A Whack on the Side of the Head: How to Unlock Your Mind for Innovation” by Roger Von Oech (you can find it on Alibris.com)
