QR Codes on T-Shirts?

Rick Gardinier

I’ve not seen this done yet — but one of the tactics that we’re trying out at the Interact 2008 Conference later this month is placing QR codes on custom T-Shirts, on the fly.  In addition to an interactive mobile marketing application which we’ve created to allow event attendees to design their own custom logo (think about the old 1980’s MTV dynamic logos), we’re also printing 2D codes onto the backs of the T-shirts, which will drive people back to the Brunner Digital website.  Will we get any response?  Not sure, but we are tracking all activities so that we can see the effect that it has.  Stay tuned for results.

might be easier and quickly produced for buttons for an event. the t’shirt is kool however logistics for events would be easier to print out buttons for a quickly produced QR code that can be fotographed via fone. Upon sign in the button would be prove to be easier.

What if we combined the qr code with the blue casting?.. If you take a picture of the qr code of someone you want to be seen with at an event… let’s say Kanye West… You text his QR code to a system and then an image of the two of you are together with a statement underneath me and “kanye (whoever, it could be a girl or guy you like or meet in the crowd)” at “such and such event” is sent back to your fone. Brand it with whomever the sponsor is and that is something someone can take home with them and show their friends. THE GREAT MEMORY is always associated with the brand that is sponsoring the event. “Look kids I met your wife here”… goooo Nabisco!.. Nabisco brought us together.

QR Code are so old, that the real issue is not about if they work, is more about if you have clients willing to try them.

The technology is proven since 1994 and it has mainstream usage around europe and navite japan.

Now that we have little mobile devices capable of installing apps, is worth to try.

David — agreed. Our NEXT initiative is not about inventing new things necessarily — it’s about exactly that — finding new and useful and creative uses for technology that might not be mainstream yet — that our clients will find interesting enough to try. QR codes are not new — Big Ideas that leverage them however are still rare.
