If you don’t know what a QR code is as you are reading this, you soon will.  Other names for this technology include Intelligent Media Tags and 2D Codes.

Like all new technologies, the technology is only as good as the idea behind it.  We believe that QR code technology in one form or another will hit the US mainstream within the next 12 to 24 months (it’s already huge in the UK and other countries where mobile phone technology is light year’s ahead of the U.S.).  We’re actively monitoring what is happening abroad, so that we are prepared.

We’re also actively looking to build our mobile case study library.  We’ve got several ideas in the works with existing clients and will be sharing the results as we can.

One of the best sources of mobile information are the blogs in the UK — because other countries are light years ahead of the US we make a habit of actively monitoring what is going on in the UK, Japan and other European countries.  Here’s an example of a great UK based site that NEXT is actively monitoring:
